In
May of 2005, weighing in at 190lbs at 5’10”,
I had reached an all time high or low depending on how you
look at it. I would joke and call it my “fighting weight”,
but honestly I felt disgusted with myself. My motivation
was a cruise for my 10th wedding anniversary in December
and I was determined not to set foot on that ship looking
the way that I did.
Growing up I had been an elite ballerina,
in fabulous shape until I had my second child, and I knew
that I could look great again. I started slow thinking I
could do it on my own, I didn’t need a gym. I began
walking everyday and began my diet. No diet in particular
I just called it the “I am 31 years old, I am not stupid,
I know what I should and shouldn’t be eating diet”.
It had a long name but it worked. I dropped about 17 pounds
on my own and then nothing. Three weeks went by and nothing.
I talked to my husband and asked his professional opinion
on what I should do next. Luckily he had a patient who had
just joined Ladies Workout Express and suggested that we
look into it. What I was missing was something different.
To say that Ladies Workout Express has changed my life would
be a drastic understatement. Not only has it provided me
with a great workout, one limitless with possibilities, but
it has also provided me with a safe haven filled with other
women just like me.
Not only did I lose more weight (I was
154lbs when I did set foot on that ship), but my body was
stronger than it had been in years. The circuit training
as well as the cardio workouts that I was able to do at Ladies
Workout Express were exactly what my body needed to get out
of my plateau and excel. I am not yet at my goal of 150lbs,
gained a little bit back on my cruise, but I am close and
I am still motivated. Although my initial motivation has
come and gone and you may ask what keeps me going now. Honestly
the better I feel and the better I look are all the motivation
I need. It is the motivation I have from within to never
go back to that place, looking like I did, but more importantly
feeling like I did. I am no longer disgusted with myself,
I am impressed with myself, and that is the greatest feeling
in the world. I think my best moment was with the owner of
the club, Tracy, one day when we were promoting Ladies Workout
Express at a bridal show. One woman came up to me and asked, “Can
I look like you if I join this gym?” and I could honestly
tell her, “Yes you can.”
